We understand that effective procurement needs to be well considered and time conscious. We integrate with project teams and coordinate procurement activities to meet the required schedule dates. We consider the lead-time for design; tender package identification; tender pre-qualification and registration of interest; tendering, contract negotiation and execution, engineering, detailed design, fabrication, logistics and installation to ensure on time delivery.

The alignment of contracting strategy to delivery strategy is fundamental to the start-up phase of a project. We engage with the market to ensure that procurement options are explored and assessed according to design maturity, and make recommendations to optimise opportunities and minimise risk through appropriate and balanced contract terms.

Transparency and Communication

We establish processes that track project procurement across work packages so that real-time progress is visible day-to-day and in weekly reporting. We actively engage with team members to ensure that the procurement scope is clearly defined and complies with the project brief and design and is appropriately contracted. In establishing a clear procurement process and reporting structure, project stakeholders are kept appropriately informed of procurement status.

Governance

We make sure that internal checks and balances are in place to align with corporate and project governance objectives. This includes gateway approvals within limits of authority and risk assessments along with gate papers to inform stakeholders.

Our experience is that the time required to effectively establish and enter contracts with project vendors can be rushed, resulting in scope gaps, timing challenges and uncertainty being encountered by the project. By properly planning and asserting the timeframes required to undertake a considered procurement process, we can provide the benefit of reducing the project risk profile.
